Role and Responsibilities
  • Day to day management of the Responsible Investment Team with line management responsibility for 3 Analysts.
  • Accountability for the Company's internal and external reporting on stewardship and Responsible Investment.
  • Supporting the Head of RI in providing specialist advice to client funds on Responsible Investment issues.
  • Responsible for building RI/ESG knowledge and capabilities across investment teams and support functions as part of embedding appropriate practices and disciplines and supporting professional development in junior staff.
  • Maintain oversight of data capture and analysis, information management, and quality assurance, to support the Company's planning, measurement, decision-making, monitoring, reporting and communication on RI matters.
  • Oversight and management of the Company's contracts with external providers for RI/Stewardship services (engagement services, specialist consultancy, carbon data, proxy voting).
  • Represent the Company at external forums, present and provide commentary on RI and stewardship topics, identify appropriate investor collaborations and support the Company's presence and participation.
  • Lead oversight for ensuring that modelling and tools enable quantitative and qualitative insights into Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risks faced from current investments and that insights are translated to strategy, decision-making and reporting to clients.

Background Experience:
  • Ideally a minimum of 3-5 years prior experience of an RI, ESG or stewardship-oriented role gained within a relevant and similar organisation.
  • Degree level educated ideally gained within a business, finance and/or investment related discipline.
  • Data and systems understanding and capabilities with experience of extracting/modelling information and designing internal and external reports
  • Experience of supporting RI implementation in practice, gained within an investment management setting.
  • Highly effective communication skills including the ability to influence and build good working relationships at senior levels both internally and externally.
  • Ability to build positive and productive working relationships with fund managers and other external partners as required.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and report writing skills including a working knowledge of MS office tools to assist in the communication of key messages and to facilitate discussions and decision making.
  • Ability to build professional network and seek business opportunities within respective asset classes.
  • A proactive, self-motivated team player who has the ability to manage a high personal workload with multiple deadlines.
