Job Details

Project Oversight

Ensure all SAS Programming deliverables are achieved with high quality in a timely, cost-effective manner;
Foster a team environment and facilitate staff to build positive, productive relationships across departments, functional and project teams in a matrix environment;
Ensure SAS Programming studies are effectively resourced and managed; Identify and implement resourcing strategies to address challenges;
Monitor study activities, budgets and forecasts; identify, manage and escalate issues;
Ensure the SAS Programming team fulfil their responsibilities in accordance with contracted commitments and SQN/client SOPs.

Line Management

Direct and manage workloads within the group and in collaboration across the Statistics department, ensuring enough qualified resources to meet new business targets whilst maintaining target billability of staff;
Provide line management to SAS Programming Team Leaders and oversight of Team Leader's line management to achieve high quality and timely provision of performance and development planning and management, training, mentoring and coaching;
Set and review line report's objectives, assess career direction, training needs and accomplishments;
Conduct line report's performance reviews in accordance with SQN SOPs to identify, plan and document team member's developmental progression;
Provide continuous review and feedback during routine direct report meetings to support individual development and progression;
Review and approve timesheets, flex and holiday requests ensuring time is recorded to project specific instructions and SQN guidelines;
Work with SQN management to ensure inappropriate staff behaviour is identified, communicated, monitored and acted upon as necessary;
Perform ongoing review of line report's sickness records in accordance with the staff handbook, escalating where appropriate;
Define and provide functional training as required;
Organise and oversee induction of new staff into the function;
Ensure that all team members have access to and have received training in current regulations, standards and guidelines.

Statistics and Programming Department & Process Management

Lead, manage and direct the provision of robust, efficient and regulatory compliant process documents
Serve as SQN representative at external and internal meetings;
Serve as SAS Programming Client Account Manager as needed, ensuring that client specific procedures and standards across projects are developed, documented and used by project teams; communicating with client as representative of Statistics and Programming department;
Input into the planning and management of the Statistics and Programming department;
Attend regular meetings with Head of Biometrics, Head of Statistical Operations, Project Managers and other company leaders to ensure adequate dissemination of information, communication and to ensure company initiatives and function issues are communicated and actioned;
Lead and contribute to the identification, development and implementation of departmental and company-wide initiatives regarding process improvements, systems and procedures;
Serve as SAS Programming Subject Matter Expert;
Ensure full impact assessment is conducted prior to initiating change;
Ensure consistency across studies related to programming outputs;
Lead and contribute to Project Lessons Learned meetings in order to facilitate process improvement and information sharing across projects;

Business Development

Provide input into the preparation of quality cost estimates and project feasibility, advising on staffing levels to accomplish proposed services;
Define and input into Programming strategies to achieve new business objectives;
Attend and support customer and bid defence meetings, as required;
Promote the understanding and awareness of contract, budget and scope assumptions within the SAS Programming teams;


Maintain awareness of SQN SOPs, customer SOPs (as required); lead and contribute to SOP updates and implementation;
Develop and maintain familiarity with SQN project, resource and costing tracking systems;
Assist and act as a deputy for Head of Statistical Operations;
Maintain an overall understanding of all relevant legislation, regulations and guidelines;
Attend all training as required by SQN.
