The Vice President, European Finance is the primary liaison between the Global Finance team, the European Finance group, and the relevant regional business operations. Reporting to the CFO, the VP, European Finance will be responsible for the oversight of the accurate and timely reporting of financial statements and tax reporting, for managing and upgrading the company's regional financial processes, and will act as liaison between the company and external providers for audit and tax. Equally as important, they will be an agent of change helping to drive process improvements throughout the rapidly growing organization, in addition to being able to provide financial information to support and inform business decision-making and execution at a regional level. In conjunction, the VP, European Finance also participates as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
The VP, European Finance is responsible for the oversight of project finances, financial accounting/management, tax reporting, and billing for the European region.

Primary Duties + Responsibility

Responsible for the oversight of financial management for Veristat's UK and European Business Operations, including by not limited to
Monthly close activities, tax compliance, audit & statutory reporting
Monthly/Quarterly management reporting
Liaise with clients as necessary regarding any collections issues
Documenting and explaining results to senior management
Develops and implements strategic plans to increase and maintain profitability for UK and European Business Operations.
Accountable for implementing relevant measures and ensuring timelines and deadlines are met within the European Finance team and relative to financial functions company wide.
Leads the Finance function in Europe to match the growth and needs of the business, alongside implementing industry standard processes.
Participates in and completes due diligence activities on potential acquisition targets within the European region; responsible for overseeing integration activities as it pertains to the regional finance function and new acquirees.
Drives financial and operational accountability for regional partners and oversees and/or completes ad hoc analyses and special projects to ensure optimal business insights are available for strategic decision making.
May be assigned additional regional responsibility with the growth of the organization.
Responsible for direct management of assigned European Finance staff, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, career development & growth, training, employee relations, and leading the regional department. Assists with assessing hiring needs, interviews, and hires to align with the needs of the department.
In conjunction with Executive Finance leadership, drives the creation of the strategic direction for the European Finance department to best achieve departmental and company goals.
Responsible for performance & management of the European Finance department financials, specifically, maintaining a healthy profit and loss sheet.
Serves as a leader, point of mentorship, and point of escalation for assigned Finance staff and more junior members of the regional Finance management team.
Contributes to the continuous process improvement within the department; brings efficiencies and best practices to the organization through the design and implementation of new or updated procedures or workflows.
Leads corporate compliance activities as it relates to the global and regional finance team including development and review of department policies, SOPs, and other controlled documents, as well as participation in audits as needed.

Experience & Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent required. MBA strongly preferred; Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant, or similar designation required.
10-15 years of progressive finance experience in a contract-based organization required, with at least 10 years of management experience. Equivalent combinations of experience may be accepted on a case by case basis.
Experience with financial forecasting, budgeting, and reporting and strong knowledge of financial reporting concepts (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow reporting) required.
Expert understanding of ASC accounting standards, GAAP, SOX compliance, ASC 606 revenue recognition, international accounting standards.
Working knowledge of domestic and international tax accounting.
Ability to handle multiple critical priorities with competing deadlines.
Ability to present complex financial data in a clear and concise manner to senior management, identifying major issues/concerns and potential corrective actions to a non-technical audience.
Demonstrated business acumen and understanding of financial concepts to successfully operate a business unit.
Demonstrated ability to think "big picture" and strategically leverage expertise, to serve as a consultant and business partner with internal and external customers.
Demonstrated ability to partner with and influence stakeholders in operational and non-operational groups.
Prior experience in a private equity owned organization preferred.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and current financial and accounting computer applications required; prior FinancialForce experience a plus.
Knowledge of and experience with basic corporate finance techniques modeling, project financial analysis, and valuation methods.
Working knowledge of ICH and other regulatory guidelines preferred. Knowledge of clinical research practices, including clinical operations and biometrics services preferred.
