The Directorate of Medical Education is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to assist in the delivery of undergraduate teaching at the Royal Hospital for Children. The post would ideally suit any trainee with an interest and experience in Paediatrics.
The post is for one year from August 2021.
It is anticipated that 8 sessions (32 hours) per week will be devoted to teaching activities (worked flexibly). The postholder will focus on the organisation, development and provision of teaching to undergraduate medical students from Glasgow University. Teaching will comprise a mixture of bedside teaching, facilitated tutorials and simulation.
A regular contribution to other teaching, including multi-disciplinary teaching and supporting the NHSGGC Widening Access to Medicine Programme will also be expected.
Allocation of site specific clinical and teaching duties will be outlined in the postholder's job plan organised by the site Hospital Sub Deans, Associate Director of Medical Education and Simulation Lead. Other duties may be allocated from time to time as directed by the Director of Medical Education.
Candidates must be fully registered with the GMC with a current Licence to Practice, and must have completed Foundation training. Evidence of an interest in and an aptitude for teaching is essential and possession of a higher postgraduate qualification (e.g. MRCP, MRCS, FRCA) highly desirable.
The successful candidate will be based at the Royal Hospital for Children.
