Job Advert
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Early Years Officer (PEYO) to support the Head of Centre to provide strategic leadership and development of outdoor learning across Falkirk Council. It is essential that you have extensive leadership and practical experience of working with children under 5 years of age in a relevant setting. You should also have experience of working at a strategic level to support and develop an improvement project (such as outdoor learning)

Following major refurbishment the Centre it is planned that this will open in August/September 2021 and will provide a unique service for families. It is hoped that the successful candidate will start prior to this start to support the Head of Centre in the set up and transition for opening. The Centre will operate 8am to 6pm and is open all year to provide additional flexibility for parents and families. .

As PEYO you will be required to support the Head of Centre to oversee the delivery of the highest quality early learning and childcare provision to secure the best possible outcomes for the children who attend. You will also support all Falkirk Council ELC settings to utilise the 'outdoor base' and support the development and training throughout

We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified, appropriately experienced and highly skilled ELC practitioner. You should have a sound knowledge of play pedagogy and recent and relevant experience of child development. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of GIRFEC, child protection and supporting children with additional support needs.

Working in partnership with parents and educational establishments across Falkirk Council, the PEYO will work alongside the Head of Centre to drive our ambitious vision forward and demonstrate energy and enthusiasm in all aspects of practice. A strong commitment to taking forward and implementing both corporate and regulatory initiatives is crucial to the role.

You will be required to hold BA in Childhood Practice, or other relevant child care qualification equivalent to SCQF level 9 (or be working towards this qualification).

If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership.
