We are looking for Senior Associates to work on the implementation of ISQM1 for the UK firm. ISQM1, the International Standard on Quality Management, is currently an Exposure Draft under consideration by the IAASB and will replace the extant standard ISQC1. It will apply to all firms carrying out audits or reviews of financial statements, other assurance or related services engagements and its objective is to require firms to make a risk based assessment of its quality control processes and embed a system of controls.
Successful implementation of ISQM1 is central to EY's strategy to be the pre-eminent and most trusted global Assurance practice. The reputation of our brand relies on the quality of the work that we do and having a system of quality management in place helps ensure a quality output. These roles are therefore central to EY's strategy and successful implementation of ISQM1 is a key priority of the EY LLP Board.
The UK firm will be required to comply with this standard from its effective date, likely to be December 2021, but is also working under the EY Global project for implementation of the standard. Preliminary work has already commenced in the UK and the Global implementation is expected to start in January 2020.Qualifications: Your key responsibilities
The team is being led by an Associate Partner and a Senior Manager from PPD, the Assurance service's risk management function. We are looking for Level 2s to take responsibility for review, coordination and development of the documentation. The team is overall responsible for:
Skills and attributes for success
- Running a series of workshops with Process Owners to understand and document the processes in a flowchart format.
- Assisting Process Owners in documenting controls.
- Identifying gaps in the current control structure and working with Process Owners to design and implement new controls.
- Working under the Global project to fulfil requirements as set out by the Global implementation team
- Engaging with stakeholders across the UK firm
- Developing an ongoing compliance function for ISQM1
To qualify for the role you must
- Excellent project management and interpersonal skills
Ideally, you'll also have
- Have experience advising clients on control implementation
- Have experience working in a controls environment
