SENIOR LEGAL COUNSEL/HEAD OF LEGAL

PREMIUM BRAND, RETAIL & FMCG

c. 5 YEARS' PQE UPWARDS

LONDON

We are working with a listed retail company. Since its IPO a few years ago, the company has remained the darling of the stock market, grown exponentially in value and its premium brand is much-loved and respected. With quality output as its foremost aim and a market leading presence in over 30 markets globally, the company is now gearing up for growth in new territories. We are looking to hire an exceptional commercial lawyer to lead up its legal function.

Reporting to the CFO and working hand in hand with the young and dynamic Board, you will have a broad remit with an international scope: amongst other matters, the remit will include:

* supporting and advising on all types of commercial contracting (eg. supply chain, distribution etc):

* advising on marketing, e-commerce and branding matters from a legal, risk and commercial perspective.

* managing M&A/JV/business development activity (while enlisting the support of external lawyers as and when required).

Whilst there will be opportunity to get involved in PLC company secretarial matters (should the successful candidate desire it), we do not require previous experience in this area and this element of the role can be outsourced.

We are looking for a bright, enthusiastic and business friendly lawyer with FMCG and retail sector familiarity. Previous experience in-house will be very helpful. You will relish learning new skills and be fearless in unfamiliar territory. This is very much a "doing" role in a small team and you will enjoy being proactive and hands-on.

You will work seamlessly with the senior leadership and share the excitement with the company's growth and ambitious prospects. You will enjoy a balanced working lifestyle and good development opportunities as the Board's trusted advisor. The precise number of years' PQE are less relevant than strong cultural and personality fit, but as a rough guide we expect the successful candidate to have at least c. 5 years' PQE.
