Chief Executive / CEO (Environmental Charity)
Norwich, with regular travel around Norfolk and more widely when required
Our client has an unrivalled reputation as the first, oldest and among the largest of the 46 Wildlife Trusts. Since 1926 they have saved and stood up for wildlife and wild places. They have inspired people about the importance of nature in its own right and for the benefits it can bring to the wellbeing of people and communities. And their ambitions continue: to demonstrate best practice on their nature reserves; to work with landowners and other stakeholders to provide healthy ecosystems across a connected landscape; to bring people even closer to nature; to empower staff and volunteers to develop their skills; and to share in our client's national mission to make a positive conservation and environmental impact.
Their vision is a sustainable Living Landscape for wildlife and people, where the future of
wildlife is protected and enhanced through sympathetic management and where people are connected with, inspired by, value and care for Norfolk's wildlife and wild spaces.
They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Executive to provide inspirational
leadership in accordance with their charitable objectives, providing clear direction, setting strategic goals and engaging all staff, stakeholders and volunteers.
You will work with the Chair, Board and Senior Management Team to continue to develop the vision for the future, determining and driving the business strategy. You will inspire, lead and cultivate the Senior Management Team to achieve our client's mission through their directorate teams. You will stay cognisant of issues that may impact the trust, responding and reacting whilst mitigating risks. You will also ensure our client maintains financial security and ensure that they meet all legal requirements.
Our client is looking for someone with substantial senior management experience - preferably at Chief Executive level - gained within a wildlife, environmental, community or not-for-profit organisation. You will have a demonstrable understanding of environmental issues as they pertain to aims and objectives. With experience of the successful planning and prioritisation of activities and resources within a complex organisation, you will also have experience of overseeing a complex organisational budget, and of leading change, negotiations, building alliances and maintaining effective relationships.
Our client is seeking a leader who can engender trust and confidence, provide clear direction to staff and volunteers and to motivate and empower people at all levels of the organisation.
If this sounds like you then our client would love to hear from you!
