Required as soon as possible: Full time, one year fixed term to cover Maternity Leave
Term Time only
An experienced and flexible Pastoral Support Manager required to work at the Francis Barber Pupil Referral Unit in Wandsworth.
Francis Barber is the Wandsworth successful secondary PRU with a team of highly dedicated staff. We provide education for a wide variety of pupils whom have had difficulty maintaining a mainstream school provision. We have excellent success rates of returning and retaining placements of pupils in special and mainstream schools and post 16 college placements.
Due to maternity leave of the current postholder, we are delighted to be able to advertise this post for a Pastoral Manager for KS3 and Year 10 pupils to be responsible for leading the work of the KS3 and Year 10 team at the Tooting site and ensure the KS3 and Year 10 pupils are supported to make excellent progress in all aspects of their lives. This work will involve supporting Keyworkers in their roles, leading some sessions with small groups, following up with families and mentoring youngsters, organising events on site relating to pupil welfare, PSHE or Careers and liaising with outside agencies such as social services to ensure support is impactful.
The successful candidate will have excellent inter-personal skills and will be able to work flexibly in response to pupil and PRU needs. They will have the ability to diffuse challenging situations and help the pupils understand the barriers they have to learning, encouraging them to put strategies in place which enable them to become successful.
Francis Barber is an excellent PRU, the Ofsted inspection report reflects the Good grading and mentions the excellent support for pupils. The person appointed will have experience of inclusion work with challenging pupils. It is very important that when writing their supporting statement applicants clearly identify how they meet the person specification. This is an excellent place to work with a high commitment to staff training and a supportive ethos. There are excellent transport links, with banks and shops nearby.
