In order to be considered it is essential to hold a degree in a relevant field such as Structural or Civil Engineering in which a MEng or MSc would be preferably. As well as this you should have between 2 - 3 years' experience working for a UK based design consultancy in which you have had the chance to demonstrate the knowledge you have acquired at university within the industry. Overall exposure to different sectors in the first few years of your career would be key as well as an understanding of different materials such as concrete, steel, masonry etc. Knowledge with software packages such as Auto CAD, Revit etc would be advantageous.
