We are working with Salinity Solutions Ltd who are looking to appoint a Non-Executive Director to enhance the Board.
This is a great opportunity to support the development of an early-stage engineering product development company that is a recent spin-out from the University of Birmingham.
Salinity is an early-stage company, developing advanced reverse osmosis systems that offer high recovery (water removal) and high efficiency, reducing processing costs and energy use by up to 70% compared with competitive systems. Salinity have built a full-scale working prototype, and are now developing the first field trial unit for a high-profile mineral extraction client. Salinity will start these field trials later this year and expect to initiate commercial sales next year.
Salinity is supported by Clean Engineering, with equity investment, commercial, market development and management support, alongside Productiv providing engineering, product development and production support at The Proving Factory in Coventry.
There are currently two executive board members and two observers who represent the founding executives, the university where the technology was developed and the investors.
We are looking for candidates with knowledge of the water treatment industry, particularly in mining and industrial applications, ideally with specific experience of reverse osmosis or other desalination systems.
Candidates should be well connected in the industry and have the knowledge and expertise to help the executive team to build a high value business, developing strategy and introducing potential customers, suppliers, and partners.
As a Non-Executive Director, you will support and advise the board on industry trends including emerging regulation and technology and identify risks and opportunities in the market.
The Board meets monthly alternating in-person with virtually using MS Teams. You will therefore need to attend 6 physical board meetings a year in Coventry plus 6 virtually. Meetings usually last 2 hours. You will be expected to spend at least half a day on site for the physical meetings, allowing time for follow-on discussions with executives and to get to know the wider business.
You will also be required to provide feedback to the university, particularly on any decisions that require shareholder approval.
Appointments will be made on merit, but we are particularly keen to receive applications from a wide range of applicants. This role would suit someone with deep industry experience who is seeking their first NED role.
