RESIDENTIAL CHILD CARE WORKERS

Various working patterns

£24,697* (part-qualified)

£27,916 to £30,815* (qualified)

Harmeny Education Trust is a sector-leading children's charity providing therapeutic care and education for children with complex additional support needs. We currently work with children of primary up to early secondary stage, both on a day and all-year-round residential basis, with exciting plans to extend our service offering for an older age group.

Harmeny is situated in a beautiful 35-acre woodland estate, which includes residential and education accommodation, community garden, orchard, wildlife habitats, children's play areas and a mountain bike track. Harmeny is located in Balerno on the outskirts of Edinburgh, at the foot of the Pentland Hills; we are easily accessible by bus and there is ample parking.

We are currently looking for Residential Child Care Workers to join our Care Team to contribute to a culture and ethos in which we make the needs of the children paramount and provide them with security, safety, care and social development to enable them to reach their potential. Opportunities exist for various roles including full-time, part-time, and fixed-term (initially for approximately six months, with the possibility of extension).

The successful candidates should be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), or they will need to register within the first six months of employment. A driving licence allowing the use of our vehicles is essential.

Full-time hours are 39 per week, working five days from seven, according to a rota system. Part-time hours are likely to be 19.5 per week, but we may consider other options. Evening and weekend work is required in either case.

This is an excellent opportunity for qualified or part-qualified Residential Child Care Workers to join an established and successful organisation. Successful candidates, together with colleagues in Care, Education and Support Services, will have the opportunity to contribute positively to the lives of some of Scotland's most vulnerable children.

A fuller job description and person specification can be found on our website.

An excellent benefits package is offered including the following:

§ A salary of £24,697 (part-qualified) or £27,916 to £30,815 (qualified), depending on qualifications and experience *(please note that these figures may increase when the inflationary increase for 2021 has been agreed)

§ 35 days' holiday per year (pro-rata for part-time posts)

§ Company pension scheme

§ Family-friendly policies and other benefits

§ Access to psychotherapy, massage therapy and fitness equipment

We are highly committed to the professional development of all our staff and the post-holders will have access to comprehensive training and development opportunities.
