Our Local Authority client has a 6 Month CONTRACT vacancy (with a possibility of an extension) for a SENIOR NETWORK SUPPORT ANALYST, details as follows

Job Purpose
To assist the Network Manager in ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the Organisation's entire networking infrastructure and associated systems.

Responsibilities

To deputise for the Network Manager and assist him in his duties.
To assist the Network Manager in tactical and strategic network planning.
To ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Organisations ICT Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN) and Internet connections.
To manage the efficient and effective operation of the Organisation's Firewall infrastructure.
To monitor the LAN, WAN, and Internet connections.
To detect faults, propose and implement solutions for the LAN, WAN and internet.
To consider, challenge, and implement changes to Firewall policies as necessary.
To liaise with Suppliers and Contractors as necessary.
To specify, source, negotiate, and procure network related equipment and services as necessary.
To implement network additions, changes, and decommissioning work, as and when required.
To propose, develop and implement network security solutions.
Essential Requirements

Educated to degree level, or equivalent standard in a relevant technical subject, or greater than five years successful experience in a similar role.
A demonstrable understanding of how network technology supports and improves business processes.
At least 3 years experience of managing/supporting a large LAN/WAN data network.
Experience of deploying and operating Cisco Network Equipment in a large, complex environment.
At least 3 years experience of Firewall management and operation (Checkpoint an advantage).
Logical and structured approach to fault finding strategies and techniques in a complex environment.
Ability to develop network strategic plans, and to prioritise, plan and organise operational and project related activities.
Ability to recognise risks to the network and their impacts, and to plan and implement risk mitigation solutions.
Experience of analysis and mitigation of network security threats.
Demonstrable ability to create, and to document network solutions, processes and procedures.
Ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English will be required. Conversing at ease with members of the public, providing advice and using any specialist terminology appropriate to the role is essential for the post.
