Engineering Manager - £85k - £90k + 10% Bonus - Remote Working ***
Avanti Recruitment are working exclusively with an award winning Software House that have built bespoke software used by SME's in a number of sectors throughout the UK. They were acquired at the end of 2020 by a Global software company which has enabled them to grow their client base, and subsequently grow in terms of headcount. They have been scaling their development team over the last 12 months and will continue to do so throughout the rest of the year and are now looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of Software Engineers and drive the delivery of their technical products.
The Engineering Manager will report into the CTO and will play a pivotal role in their R&D team. This is a hands-off strategic role where you will be leading a team of 8 in collaboration with the internal and external Product teams. Your team will likely grow to 10 over the course of the summer and then continue to grow thereafter as they scale their teams.
You'll have full line management responsibilities with your 8 direct reports (due to grow) and will ensure you are available to support and guide your team when needed, as well as holding regular 1-1's with each of the team members. You'll be the driving force and inspire your team to deliver their best work and get the best out of them as individuals and as a team. The Engineering Manager will take a strategic approach and will constantly be looking at ways to make improvements within the team in the immediate, short, mid, and long term. You'll work alongside the team to identify areas of improvement and/or weakness, empowering the team to share ideas and implement suggestions that will take the team forward. You will adopt best practices and methodologies, driving this throughout the team and ensuring it ties in with the company's roadmap. You'll work closely with relevant stakeholders within the business, providing regular reports and updates on the progress and plans of the Engineering Team.
This is a vital role within the business and there is a real opportunity to come in and make contributions that will take the business to the next level as they go through a really exciting period of growth. To be successful within the role, you will have proven management and leadership skills commercially and have a deep understanding of agile development methodologies. Your ability to communicate at all levels to both technical and non-technical audiences will be crucial, as will your ability to motivate, grow and retain high value personnel. You'll also have a proven history of analysing issues, identifying and resolving problems, developing and implementing innovative solutions, systems and work practices to assist the leadership team in delivering on business objectives.
The role can be mostly remote or office based, the choice is yours! The company are based in West Sussex so you will ideally be located within reasonable commutable distant to travel to their office when required. This will be left to your own judgement, but it will be expected that you attend the office monthly to meet face to face with your team and the wider business due to the nature of the role.
