The Government Property Agency (GPA) was launched as an Executive Agency of the Cabinet Office in 2018. The GPA represents a step change in the way that Government property estate and assets are managed efficiently, by providing innovative and flexible solutions across the Government estate. The GPA is expected to grow exponentially over the first few years of its existence; this equates to transferring hundreds of assets (worth billions of pounds) onto its balance sheet from Government Departments, as well as gaining responsibility for the running of a large part of the central government office estate.

The GPA offer flexible working with the ability to work from home with occasional travel required to the Birmingham office.

The Technology Financial Reporting Lead will monitor the expenditure of Tech Project costs, investigate variances, and ensure that billings are issued to customers and payments collected for GPA Hubs where GPA provide an IT service to clients. This post is part of the Chief Operating Office Finance Business Partnering team and will play a key role in supporting the delivery of key projects and the provision of Tech as a service to clients.

The responsibilities of the Finance Business Partner will include

Establish and maintain good relationships with the Technology team and the wider GPA Finance function
Maintain monthly financial forecasts and accruals, and support quarterly reviews
Support the delivery of accurate financial data in a timely manner to enable effective decision making

Provide advice on financial treatment of Tech costs to the Tech Team
Ensure correct financial governance and stewardship of projects and programmes
Financial lead for Tech income and expenditure
Budget profiling and monthly forecasting
Identifying and reporting on financial risk to GPA
Liaising with auditors
Ensuring robust financial reporting across projects
Business Partnering with non-finance managers in order to develop processes and the understanding of financial requirements
Developing financial systems alongside other FM Reporting Managers to make processes more user friendly, efficient, effective and robust.
Possible line Management of Management Accountant

Key Skills & Experience

CCAB, or equivalent, qualified or part-qualified with the ability to gain formal CCAB qualifications within a reasonable time.
A good level of financial reporting and management accounting experience
Strong attention to detail and ability to analyse and interpret significant amounts of financial data
Ability to communicate complex matters to a non-financial audience
Ability to work well as part of a geographically dispersed team
Strong focus on delivering an excellent service to customers
Strong organisational skills to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
Experience of using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (desirable)
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
Ability to plan and prepare to maximise time and productivity
