One of the North Wests' most established multi-disciplinary engineering consultancies have a new requirement for an experienced Civil Design Engineer or a Civil Technician to join their busy infrastructure team in Liverpool.

You will be joining an experienced team of engineers, having a main focus on drainage design/ SUDS and external works including car parks and minor roads.

You will have at least a HND in Civil Engineering or similar. You will have gained a number of years' worth of UK based experience in a consultancy environment ideally within the residential sector. You will be comfortable in the use of Civil software for drainage design. You must also have strong communication skills and be eager and willing to learn.

Typical duties of this Civil Infrastructure Engineer/ Technician position:

*

Undertaking feasibility studies for highways projects

*

Preparing reports, cost estimates, investigating problems and identifying solutions

*

Preparing detailed design highway improvement schemes using Civil 3D and AutoCAD software including preparation of contract drawings (Microdrainage experience is also beneficial)

*

Ensuring compliance of the team's work with a high regard to Health and Safety and the application of the CDM Regulations and other legislation.

*

Preparing schemes for tender using the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works and Specification for Highway Works

*

Mentoring more junior members of staff, leading small teams of technicians and engineers

*

Able to assist in preparing fee estimates and bid work

Required Skills and Experience for this Civil Infrastructure Engineer/ Technician position:

*

Degree qualified in Civil Engineering (or similar) and you will actively working towards Incorporated or Incorporated Member status of the Institution of Civil Engineers (IEng MICE)

*

Excellent communication skills and to be a real 'people person'

*

Working knowledge of the relevant legislation and guidelines surrounding highways and drainage design

*

A number of years' worth of experience within the design, implementation and supervision of all aspects of highways and civil engineering design and construction

*

Proven knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation, standards and procedures. A working knowledge of standard highway and civil engineering specifications, conditions of contract and methods of measurement
