NQ Lawyers - Corporate/Funds/Finance - 2021 qualifiers in corporate, funds and finance - openings with an elite offshore law firm. City calibre work with significant lifestyle advantages.
Few places can offer a lawyer the best of both worlds but in Jersey it really is possible to build a City calibre legal career whilst enjoying a lifestyle that is simply unattainable in London or another major urban centre.
Lawyers in this leading offshore firm are engaged in high-quality and complex international legal work, often in a far more 'hands-on' role than might be typical in a larger City type firm. They enjoy a strong low-tax earning potential and are encouraged to begin building client contacts from day one, making for excellent career prospects. The working culture is friendly and relaxed but at the same time highly ambitious, with a real focus on developing commercial as well as technical acumen. Whether focusing on corporate, investment funds, or banking and finance work, the experience you gain here will provide an excellent platform for your longer-term career.
From a lifestyle perspective, anyone seeking an alternative to city life will find that the island has much to offer and the work-life balance is as good as you will find for a firm operating on this elevated level of cross-border transactional work. You will be busy, so some days will be longer than others, but this is not a place where people stay late out of expectation and for the most part, all-nighters and working weekends will be a thing of the past.
Applicants will need strong academics (2.1 minimum) and will be completing their training contract with a respected commercial law firm. You will have at least one seat in corporate, banking & finance, or investment funds, and you will be a confident communicator who enjoys client contact.
The Channel Islands
For a city-based lawyer who thrives on big ticket work but craves an escape from the rat race, few places compete with the Channel Islands, home to two of the world's premier offshore financial centres. Jersey and Guernsey have strong and highly competitive legal sectors, housing teams that number many alumni of the leading London or international outfits amongst their ranks. They do complex blue-chip work, in a nice environment without the trappings of a big law firm culture. Work-life balance tends to be good, leaving plenty of time to enjoy what is an enviable coastal lifestyle and London is only an hour away making it easy to get that city fix when (or if) you need it.
Interviews will take place by videoconference with start dates determined according to your qualification date. Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with licenses (where applicable) and relocation, including temporary accommodation on arrival.
