Purpose of the role:

Are you experienced in successfully delivering complex contracts within the adult education sector? Then you can join Britain`s leading educational charity and transform lives and outcomes every day.

The Workers` Educational Association is a unique charity and the UK`s largest voluntary sector provider of adult education. With a clear vision and a strong social purpose, we bring great teaching to local communities. Since 1903, we have been giving disadvantaged people the opportunity to return to learning - inspiring them to realise their full potential and become active, engaged citizens.

We see education as a tool for social justice, not just self-improvement, and we pride ourselves on making learning egalitarian and accessible. Volunteers play a central role in everything we do, from governance through to classroom support, helping us deliver courses to 50,000 people in 2,300 locations - and enabling us to reach 80% of the population.

Key areas of responsibility:

The Senior Area Education Manager will manage a team to deliver the Association education provision, alongside strategic partnerships and external relationships, particularly in building our skills oriented provision through partnership working across the region.

The role will have responsibility for delivery of complex AEB contracts across the North East area. In line with contract requirements and Association strategic objectives this role will support the Head of region in successfully delivering contract requirements whilst focusing on continuous improvement. You will work closely with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including LEPs (or equivalent), local authorities, community organisations, employers, and trade unions.

About you:

The post holder will be accountable for the successful delivery of the AEB contract within the agreed budget and timelines, ensuring the delivery to agreed funding and quality frameworks of AEB provision by WEA and (where relevant) subcontractors.

They will report to the Mayoral combined authority skills team and internally within WEA taking appropriate actions on contract performance where appropriate.
