NHS Highland is seeking to recruit to the post of Deputy Medical Director for 12 months, while our current Deputy Medical Director (Acute) is on secondment.
The successful post holder will work to support the Chief Officer (Acute) to deliver high quality care by providing senior clinical leadership capability and capacity. In addition, you will hold professional and portfolio responsibilities as delegated by and on behalf of the NHS Highland Board Medical Director including Deputy Responsible Officer. This post will therefore be of interest to aspirant medical directors.

The post holder will be accountable to the Chief Officer (Acute) and the NHS Highland Board Medical Director for the delivery of a wide range of high-quality Acute Services across NHS Highland. You will support the embedding of the NHS Highland Culture plans thus facilitating the delivery of person-centred care and building a culture of dignity and respect.
Interested applicants should ideally have experience as a Clinical Director or Associate Medical Director and will be looking for a development opportunity, working at a senior level within an NHS Health Board.
If you believe you have the necessary leadership experience required to undertake such an important role, we look forward to receiving your application. Remuneration will be per Consultant contract with a Responsibility Allowance equal to two EPAs. The number of contracted hours is negotiable with successful applicant but up to 10PAs plus 2 EPAs is available. Applicants who wish to continue some clinical sessions in addition to Deputy MD sessions are encouraged. We would be happy to discuss arrangements and possible job plans pre-interview. Support for re-location may be available if required. Some flexibility in work location can be allowed because of use of Teams technology.
