Our client is a very well-established global supplier to the automotive industry, with a presence in 32 countries and with Headquarters in North Staffordshire.

They are currently seeking a Category Manager within their busy purchasing function

Reporting to the Head of Category Purchasing, the main tasks will include:
  • Continuously monitoring the economical, technical & social market trends & risks
  • Implementing worldwide purchasing strategies
  • Negotiating customer terms, conditions and requirements
  • Manage global suppliers
  • Negotiate and implement cash and capital improvement measures with suppliers
  • Conclude relevant supplier contracts

  • Proven experience working in a Purchasing role, ideally within the automotive industry
  • Ideally educated to Degree Level or equivalent
  • Teamplayer
  • Excellent IT skills in particular Excel, Powerpoint and MS Office
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Able to working in a high pressure environment with tight deadlines
  • Self starter, able to take initiative and be proactive
  • Flexible
  • Prepared to travel to customer sites both within the UK and overseas
