I am working in partnership with a world-renowned, industry leading security solutions provider. Within this part of the company, you will be working on intriguing projects in conjunction with Ministry of Justice departments across the globe in designing robust, cutting-edge wireless security products which contribute to securing and protecting people, premises and valuables.
We are looking for an ambitious and talented Head of Embedded Systems to technically lead and manage a team of eight firmware, electronics and RF engineers.
You will be responsible for development and support of new and existing products, specialising in Electronics and Firmware (Embedded). Tasked with leading the product embedded development, ensuring best practice and continuous improvement throughout the team, ensuring quality and leading-edge solutions for the electronic monitoring market is delivered production ready and on time for manufacturing. A leader with the ability to direct in firmware and analogue, digital and RF design solutions, with modern development tools such as Agile. Problem solving and an ability to resolve in-field customer issues is a part of this role combined with regular reporting to the CTO, ensuring clear visibility of progress and issues within the department.
A major part of this role involves ensuring that new products quickly reach the market which starts with gaining a strong understanding of customer requirements, ensuring products are best in class. You will provide weekly reports on progress, issues and technical details. You will develop new IP and ensure protection either with patents and/or confidentiality agreements.
Importantly you will ensure that all department products and processes adhere to the business security guidelines and policies whilst maintaining an up-to-date understanding of the technology sectors applicable to the business' current and future products.
You will ensure all products are fully documented and archived and that all products designed and meet necessary approvals for operation and sales internationally.
You will also be accountable for all products being fully type approved to ensure that they meet all aspects of functionality and performance as defined in the requirements specification and provide technical support to operations and production teams to ensure products are understood and can be correctly manufactured, tested and maintained.
Manage team appraisals, absence and performance management.
