Do you want to join a dynamic and vibrant team?

Do you like working in a team environment? Continuing to learn whilst developing your practice and skills?

This is a fantastic opportunity to become a part of a team where we are keen to cultivate a love of learning and teaching, while valuing wellbeing and creative learning. If you can make a real difference to children's lives, enjoy challenges and have a commitment to raising achievement this could be the job for you.

We are looking for a Key Stage 2 teacher for maternity cover for the whole of academic year 2021-2022, starting in September. The post will hold classroom responsibility within KS2 and involve working in partnership with the wider school. Experience of working in Key Stage 2 would be an advantage. Although initially being a temporary post, this could lead to a permanent position. We have a range of experienced and new staff who provide a happy and supportive environment for all new stakeholders - adults and children alike.

You will be someone who can help us ensure all our children achieve their potential and who:
  • Is passionate about teaching and learning
  • Has high expectations of children's progress, attainment and behaviour
  • Has high personal expectations of their own achievement and professional development
  • Is creative, energetic and has a good sense of humour.

The successful candidate will also have a clear vision for their part in raising standards and be able to engage, motivate and support pupils, staff and parents, with enthusiasm and sensitivity. Most important of all is to really care for and value our children!

We can offer:
  • Happy, highly motivated children who are hungry to learn
  • Dedicated and enthusiastic staff
  • Excellent relationships with parents
  • Supportive governors

A visit to the school as part of the application is encouraged.

The position will be on the Main Pay Scale and for a September start date.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.

Information about the school

A school was first established in the village of Horton Kirby in 1857 and the present school, which combined the village schools of Horton Kirby and South Darenth, was opened by the Bishop of Tonbridge in 1970. The building consists of eleven classrooms. Adjacent to these are libraries, resource and play areas. The school hall is used for dining, assemblies, gymnastics and games. The roll is currently 284, organised into 10 classes.

The school has developed close links with the community and the Church. Parents are always welcomed into the school and many work alongside the professional staff supporting reading, maths skills, computing, cooking, etc.

We aim to provide a caring, stimulating, well disciplined atmosphere at the school. To this end staff work co-operatively and professionally together to provide for our pupils. As of February 2020, the school has been graded GOOD in all areas by OFSTED. This school also received a GOOD in our SIAMs (Church) inspection March 2016.

Our School and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
