Finance Control Manager Location: Stratford 1-2 days per week (expect significant home-working to begin with) Salary: Circa £50,000 Hours: Full-time (4 days per week considered) Flexible working Closing Date: 12th May We're looking for a qualified Finance Control Manager to join our team. In this exciting role, you will lead the continuous development and implementation of the financial control framework by contributing towards the drive for process efficiency, reporting on performance management, exception reporting and monitoring progress on audit findings to ensure strong internal financial control. You will have ownership of the balance sheet reconciliation process, becoming the Product Owner for financial system reconciliation tools and ensuring the timely production of balance sheet reconciliations which are well controlled, monitored and reported to Senior Finance Management. You will be a qualified Accountant with experience of internal control frameworks. You will be control-focussed but also a stickler for analytics and insight. You'll have excellent stakeholder management skills and you'll have the ability to thrive in a matrix reporting structure. Key Accountabilities:
  • Accountable for line managing, leading and developing an inclusive and high functioning team. As a line manager you will be responsible for creating a positive culture which recognises success, develops and drives high performance and rewards results to retain talent within the team and wider function
  • Leading operational review meetings with the Finance Leadership team to identify areas requiring deeper insight and analysis and performance management
  • Ensure the production and sign-off of timely balance sheet reconciliations for all accounts ensuring strong controls are in place and items are cleared to agreed service levels
  • Become the product owner for CRUK reconciliation tools (currently Blackline) ensuring the functionality of the tool is being optimised
  • Creation and coordination of a centralised Finance KPI dashboard focusing on the operational performance of the Finance team
  • Coordination of audit control findings, from both internal and external audit reports, including the review and challenge of audit recommendations and drafting management responses
Key Technical Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Behaviours:
  • Qualified accountant (or by experience) with post-qualification experience
  • Experience of the application of strict financial disciplines and internal control frameworks
  • Experience of managing and motivating a team, and creating accountability in others
  • Ability to communicate well and build strong relationships at all levels, collaborate with the right people at the right time and keep your stakeholders informed
