Job Description

As School Groups Manager you would support the Executive Director, Head Teachers and other staff in schools in providing high quality learning and teaching; taking a lead role in implementing an effective and appropriate curriculum; and in raising standards to meet national priorities, using appropriate self-evaluation frameworks and criteria on performance monitoring and continuous improvement. You will also have strategic, staff management and budget responsibilities.

It is essential that you hold a degree or an appropriate equivalent qualification, plus GTC registration and a post-graduate qualification such as a MEd or an education management qualification e.g. SQH is desirable.

Experience of quality development, planning and quality assurance at a strategic and service level demonstrating project management with personnel management and budgetary responsibility is essential; as is experience of communicating with a wide range of stakeholders.

Experience of providing a central education support service and strategic planning and implementation in a public sector environment is desirable.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils' policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £64,262.80 per annum.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.

Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
