The company

We are working with a highly regarded engineering firm who are seeking to evolve and drive digitisation throughout the organisation. With over 100 years' experience, our client is a multi-national engineering group, made up of three world-leading businesses, each one combining expert knowledge with industry-leading products.

The role

As Head of Engineering and Digitisation, you'll continue to grow a critical part of the business, providing vision, excellence and creating an agile and diverse team. You will follow the company's global strategy to work more closely with its customers to provide products and solutions to meet their specific needs.

The role will involve influencing and leading a range of cultures, working groups, teams, and individuals around the globe whilst managing circa 100 people across 5 global teams.

Responsibilities include:
  • Managing £multi-million budget and operational excellence programmes
  • Coaching and inspiring the engineering managers and their teams to be best in class
  • Building on a strong culture of innovation and engagement
  • Streamlining processes across company specialties
  • Leading the Digital Transformation Programme
  • Ensuring the optimal application of engineering resources
  • Effectively manage relationships with key stakeholders globally
  • Maintaining contacts with research bodies as a source of ideas

The requirements

You'll have experience operating in diverse global product, services and a solution engineering environment.

Other requirements include:
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent, ideally Meng or Chartered Engineer
  • Understanding of agile leadership within a traditional engineering environment
  • Can effectively and appropriately challenge others
  • Ability to simplify complex subjects to increase effectiveness
  • Delivery focused, organised, methodical, and analytical
  • Excellent industry and technical knowledge
  • Inspirational with the right intelligence, attitude, and desire to succeed
  • Strong interest in how things are designed and built
  • Proven experience of effectively implementing continuous improvement
  • Experience of managing multiple development projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communicational skills (both written and verbal)
  • Flexible within the UK, willingness to travel
