Location: Flexible

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) is a non-departmental public body created to clean up the UK's earliest nuclear safety sites safely, securely and cost-effectively, with care for people and the environment. The work to clean up the UK's nuclear legacy is the largest, most important environmental restoration project in Europe.

There are around 16,000 people who help deliver NDA's mission and they make up one of the most advanced nuclear workforces in the world.

The Security and Corporate Services function within the NDA Corporate Centre provides the necessary functional support activities within the NDA Group, which ensures that the domains of Information Communication Technology, Information Governance, Information Security, Security & Resilience and Corporate Centre Services, operate securely, creatively, transparently and effectively in the delivery of the NDA mission.


The NDA is seeking a Solutions Architect who is innovative, curious and prospers against the challenge of working closely with multiple businesses in the group to solve complex and challenging problems. This will be a key role in the IT Transformation team taking architectural and technical ownership of network solutions across the business and working amongst the group in development of wider strategic solutions. This will include building solutions from core business requirements, working with key suppliers and ensuring outputs match business demand along with ensuring the business maintains relevance with standards and security principles. This role provides the opportunity to be truly innovative, roll up your sleeves, get stuck into the detail of systems, create demonstrations and proof-of-concepts, and generally do what it takes to modernise and support the business.

Key Accountabilities

Significant in depth of experience within key disciplines such as design, security, risk management, architecture principles, cloud architectures and services. and development, including:
  • Supporting the business with solutions aligned to the documented business objectives
  • A comprehensive and detailed understanding of modern private/public cloud datacentre architectures
  • Security implementations in line with NCSC good practice
  • Exceptional communication skills with diverse and adverse audiences - Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Engage with technical discussions with the technical lead and senior stakeholders.
  • Work with Architects, Analysts and Engineers to review business requirements and ensure alignment on both corporate centre and group
