Who we are:

Joe Mellows Furniture Makers is a growing team of talented and dedicated master-crafts people. Our work is diverse, covering special one-off bespoke pieces, commercial joinery in prestigious spaces, furniture and architectural joinery for luxury interiors. We have featured on Grand Designs and worked on RIBA award-winning projects as we are renowned for our exceptional standards of craft and our exemplary and thoughtful client collaboration.

We’re looking for a dynamic, high-energy and vibrant person to join our North Devon design team in the role of Design Assistant. We are invested in the training and development of our
people, (mastery of a craft is a continual journey), and there is scope within this role to progress to a senior position in our design studio.

What you'll be doing:

+ Producing beautifully presented, rendered drawings for a client.
+ Contributing to the quoting process and assembling the information into a professional quote presentation.
+ Photographing and editing images for marketing.
+ Producing a specification document for each project.
+ Completing detailed technical drawings for the workshop and liaising with the lead maker.
+ Being the lead contact with our collaborators such as metal engineers, finishers, architects and producing relevant technical drawings.
+ Engaging with our clients to deliver projects on time and meeting or surpassing our 5 star client
+ Occasional UK travel – to our West Sussex workshop for team activities or to project sites to photograph and review finished work. Projects are commonly in London but cover a large area
across the UK.

About You:

+ Demonstrate expert proficiency in using Sketchup (this is an absolute must-have) and know how to render sketchup drawings.
+ Make brilliant personal connections, have superb communication skills and demonstrate flawless written English.
+ Have training in Product or Interior Design – this might be formal training or industry experience.
+ Show an aptitude and interest in photographing finished interiors.
+ Have photo editing skills – Photoshop and Lightroom.
+ Show a good understanding of costs and budgets.
+ Have driving license and use of car.
