Shared Infrastructure - Hardware Team Leader
Would you like to key play a role in delivering critical systems to the Royal Navy? We currently have a vacancy for a Hardware Team Leader at our site in New Malden or Portsmouth - Broad Oak.
As a Hardware Team Leader, you will be undertaking the day to day team leadership of the Shared Infrastructure (SI) Hardware Build, Install and Support Team. You will have the opportunity to run a small dedicated team of engineers servicing demands from multiple SI projects and working with stakeholders and teams outside of SI. You will also be involved in supporting the work that is being undertaken and be involved with the lower level detail as required.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to assist in the delivery of systems that you will get to see in situ onboard the Royal Naval Warships. It will also give you the opportunity to not only manage the work but to develop a deeper understanding of the hardware technology and processes in the delivery environment. This role could also lead to future opportunities within the team or wider BAE Systems Business.
Your main responsibilities as a Shared Infrastructure - Hardware team Leader will involve:
Managing the Shared Infrastructure Hardware Build, Install and Support Team on a daily basis. Be responsible for planning, assignment of tasks, tracking and reporting on activities.
Ensuring the team is following the correct processes and undertaking the work in the correct way. Offering guidance regarding process and best practise as required.
Liaising, building relationships, delegating work to and tracking progress of other teams carrying out Hardware Build, Install and Support Team work.
Supporting the general development of members of the team and help develop a team with the required levels of competency and broad range of skills to enable team flexibility.
Supporting the project and technical leads in each area with what they require, helping to define the way ahead and strategy
Your skills and qualifications:
Ability to run a small team, to prioritise and allocate work for the team
To be able to report to management on progress and issues to an appropriate level
To have good people-skills and be able to get the best out of individuals within the team, and to deal with people issues as they arise
To be flexible and able to deal with changing demands and priorities
Ability to create schedules and track progress
Hardware Experience is not vital, but some experience and a level of technical understanding regarding hardware aspects across the lifecycle would be useful

You will be a highly motivated individual with a strong desire to succeed despite setbacks. You will also have a customer focus demonstrable through understanding customer needs and programme drivers. The ability to manage team dependencies over multiple projects will also be key to this position.
