We are looking for an Engineering Manager to be based in York to manage the production, tracking, submission and sign off of technical assurance documentation and establish relationships with our client teams. The Engineering manager will be a champion for client care and provide technical coordination on multi-disciplinary projects. The Rail North East business based in York and covering Network Rail's Eastern Region including Anglia is growing off the back of recent wins. We're delivering a multitude of projects for clients including Network Rail, Nexus, Tier one Contractors and Local Authorities as well as supporting other parts of the UK business to deliver HS2, Crossrail and other Network Rail Frameworks.

Essential Experience
    \t Have relevant experience including leadership of the development and implementation of engineering solutions. \t Working in a project management role, have project management experience or engineering coordination role. \t Exercise sound holistic independent judgement and take responsibility. \t Understand and comply with the Code of Conduct operated by professional institution. \t Demonstrate appropriate professional standards, recognising obligations to society, the profession and the environment. \t Able to communicate well with others at all levels including effective use of English orally and in writing. \t Discuss ideas and plan competently and with confidence. \t Have effective personal and social skills. \t Promote continuous improvement in "Safe by Design" \t Have a sound knowledge of legislation, hazards and safe systems of work. \t Understand how to manage health, safety and welfare within own area of responsibility. \t Experienced in leading, and working with, people from varied discipline, backgrounds and cultures. \t Managing quality processes. \t Have ability to use a sound evidence-based approach to problem solving and be able to contribute to continuous improvement. \t Have recognised expertise in a professional discipline with well-established industry network. \t Able to identify, review and select techniques, procedures and methods to undertake engineering tasks. \t Can contribute to the design and development of engineering solutions. \t Experience of providing input to estimates for the engineering budget and schedule and oversee technical resources to meet requirements on large, complex projects.
    Duties & Responsibilities:
      \t Encourage SHE feedback and take a lead in solving SHE issues. \t Build strong working relationships with other teams and technical disciplines, and external organisations to foster cooperation and to identify cross-sell and trade-up opportunities. \t Support technical direction at a subject level. \t Lead the delivery of projects ensuring client satisfaction, effective project management and good communication and collaboration between the client teams. \t Coordinate and manage project teams and large size projects of single (own) discipline engineers or mid - large size multi disciplinary project teams, ensuring client satisfaction, effective project management and good communication and collaboration between the client teams. \t Coach and mentor engineering professionals to support the development of our client's talent pool. \t Provide specialised technical input to major/complex studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise \t Develop and propose potential solutions, including solutions that fall outside the standard codes where appropriate, to meet or exceed client expectations. Guide clients through the technical decision making process and provide alternative solutions if there are changes to project parameters. \t Resolves differences of opinion between designers and checkers. \t Lead interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables. \t Perform independent technical review for projects of moderate complexity. \t Develop strong, partnering relationships with senior client personnel in order to identify and resolve issues, to identify business opportunities and to influence their decision making. \t Engage with the client and all key stakeholders to develop a shared understanding of project objectives and to establish protocols for working together. \t Maintain records of Continuing Professional Development and are able to make these available for audit by their professional institution.

      Qualifications
      Minimum Academic Qualifications
        \t BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng or equivalent in a relevant discipline. \t Chartered or Incorporated Engineer professional status, or equivalent.
