Team Leader - Inpatient Unit
£37,919 - £41,625 FTE

Prospect Hospice is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with clinical leadership experience to lead, motivate and inspire the nursing team to achieving the highest standards of nursing care and patient safety, working closely with the Clinical Lead for our inpatient unit in Swindon, Wiltshire.

As well as our inpatient unit, we provide care in community settings with nurse specialists, doctors and our family support and therapy team to provide the best possible end of life care to our patients.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week over 7 days / nights

What is the role?

We are looking for a unique individual who is passionate about palliative care and who is driven to work in collaboration with patients, families and other services to provide a truly individual, and person-centred approach to nursing. We value personal qualities such as kindness, compassion, warmth and the willingness to go the extra mile for our patients.
You will fulfil a true nursing leadership role ensuring an effective quality nursing service, whilst striving for continuous improvement. As the Team Leader you will act as a role model, teacher and supervisor for nurses, student nurses, healthcare assistants and to manage, co-ordinate and effectively integrate the volunteer resource on the unit.

Our inpatient unit is supported by our consultant and medical director, clinical nurse specialists including a trainee advanced nurse practitioner. You will also have the peer support of team leaders across the hospice's services and work with these leaders to develop and shape services and pathways of care.

About you:

- NMC Registered General Nurse
- Experience of managing people or large teams
- Experience of multi-disciplinary or professional team working
- Experience in implementing improvements to patient care

It would also be great if you have:

- Experience of working with patients and carers with mental health and learning disability needs
- A teaching or mentoring qualification
- Palliative care experience
- Management or leadership qualification or certificate, or willingness to undertake
- A degree in a health care related field, or working towards this
