A leading fund manager is seeking a Distribution Business Management Specialist to work within their Global Distribution COO function:

Distribution is responsible for the marketing, promotion and ongoing development of our product offering, for both institutional and intermediary channels globally. Global Distribution is a trusted partner to our clients and we enable investment solutions through active management. Areas within Distribution consist of Sales, Global Marketing, Global Product and Investment Trusts.

Global Distribution COO is located at the heart of the Distribution Business with the objective of enabling and empowering our Distribution colleagues by allowing them to focus on the right clients and right products, establishing strategy discipline and leveraging data and technology to identify commercial opportunities to drive growth, all while ensuring strong governance and efficient processes.

Global Distribution COO function directly aligns with the Corporate strategic priorities of delivering simple excellence:

Responsibilities & Duties:

You will support key areas of our Global Distribution COO function, and in particular: Distribution Oversight; Customer Governance, and; Business Management.

This will include the provision of consistent and insightful reporting to fund and management Boards, internal committees and to senior Distribution management.

You will have an initial focus on our UK and EMEA distribution activities, but looking to provide greater support to our Global distribution teams in due course.

The role will offer the opportunity to be involved in major corporate projects and with significant exposure to senior management both within the Distribution function as well as across the wider business.

You will both directly and supporting the Head of Global Distribution Business Management deliver:

Distribution Oversight
  • Provide Distribution reporting to UK and EMEA fund and management Boards and internal committees (including the Executive Committee, Executive Coordination Committee, Ethics and Conflicts Committee, UK EMEA Distribution Oversight Committee) and, when required, to regulators
  • Provide Committee secretarial support to the UK EMEA Distribution Oversight Committee (including papers and minutes)
  • Support Distributor due diligence and feedback processes, including MiFID II product governance due diligence
  • Present in person to relevant fund and management Boards and internal committees as required.

Customer Governance
  • Act as a customer advocate and Treating Customers Fairly ("TCF") subject matter expert within the business, attending internal governance committees, such as the Product Oversight Committee, as required
  • Oversight and continued enhancement of the Customer Governance and TCF management information and reporting process
  • Provide TCF summary reporting to fund and management Boards and internal committees and, when required, to regulators
  • Provide Committee secretarial support to the Customer Interests and TCF Committee (including papers and minutes)
  • Lead UK end-investor insight and market research program including: the Customer Panel; annual end-investor needs and motivations research; ad-hoc product and literature testing, and; relationship management of external research partners
  • Present in person to relevant fund and management Boards and internal committees as required.

Business Management
  • Working with Distribution senior management, act as a change agent within Distribution to identify new initiatives and opportunities for improvement
  • Represent the Distribution business, as required, in key strategic initiatives and major Distribution Technology and Change projects
  • Support the management of distribution impact and implementation of regulatory change (e.g. MiFID II, AMMS, ESMA disclosures, SMCR)
  • Support and contribute to the development of growth strategies and initiatives for all regions that are in line with the firm's corporate strategy
  • Understand key revenue and expense drivers and work with business management to optimise Distribution's productivity
  • Liaise with Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit to facilitate their second- and third-line oversight of the Distribution function to ensure successful engagement, reporting and implementation
  • Collaborate with Investments, Finance, Legal, Operations, Information Technology and any other business functions as required, to ensure their positive interactions with, and understanding of, the Distribution function
  • Collaboration with other Distribution COO teams including: Business Intelligence and Distribution Operations, Client Strategy, Global Communications, Strategic Account Program, Project Management, Client Experience

The role requires:
  • Asset management industry experience is essential
  • Good working knowledge of investment funds and products and their distribution
  • Good IT skills, including PowerPoint, Excel and database used for analysis and reporting purposes
  • Extensive experience of providing reporting to senior management
  • Investment banking, finance or law background and aptitude ideal
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to liaise with senior management, peers and other team members
  • Committed team player

  • Strong management of stakeholders and their issues
