This is a fantastic opportunity to join our client who are creating the future of sustainable travel. They are currently looking for an Architecture Principal Engineer to join their team.

The company

Our client design, manufacture and sell advanced single and double deck buses within the automotive market. They have developed a range of low-carbon buses with optimised drive systems, setting the benchmark for fuel economy and CO2 reduction. Their lightweight engineering, premium service, and low running costs all contribute to these advanced passenger vehicles designed for a global market.

The role

As Architecture Principal Engineer you'll lead on the vehicle layout and commodity integrations. You'll be working on concept CAD generation as well as both inhouse and outsourced concept simulations. This is a fantastic opportunity to join their mission to create the future of sustainable travel by working on the technologies that form part of them.

Responsibilities include:
  • Working on projects around concept CAD generation, including digital buck and data management
  • Leading on vehicle layout and commodity integration
  • Working on hardpoint generation including occupant layout
  • Undertaking concept simulations (inhouse and outsourced)
  • Working with CAE Engineers on structural load path and crash optimisation
  • Exploring new engineering ideas
  • Developing and deploying engineering strategies
  • Driving process improvements including DFM and serviceability
  • Supporting concept selections and ensuring adherence to Design Standards
  • Using Quality History Reviews and Design Failure Modes in innovative designs
  • Developing and presenting technical presentations
  • Coordinating and participating in design reviews

The requirements

You'll have at least 5 years' experience in concept, architecture, layout and integration at component and system level and will have experience in the automotive or commercial vehicle industries. Other requirements include:
  • Degree-level education in an engineering field (ideally Automotive, Mechanical or Electrical)
  • Experience working on driveline systems
  • Experience with and knowledge of vehicle electrification
  • Strong root cause analysis skills
  • Experience with new product development
  • Able to provide balanced solutions for technical decision making
  • Able to present technical material to a range of audiences
  • Confident working in a start-up environment
