Do you have a strong track record working in vehicle dynamics? We are looking for a Battery Systems Control and Integration Principal Engineer to join their team and drive projects forward.

The company

Our client design, manufacture and sell advanced single and double deck buses within the automotive market. They have developed a range of low-carbon buses with optimised drive systems, setting the benchmark for fuel economy and CO2 reduction. Their lightweight engineering, premium service and low running costs all contribute to these advanced passenger vehicles designed for a global market.

The role

As Battery Systems Control and Integration Senior Engineer you will support the integration of the HV battery control systems including the Battery Management System (BMS) into an Electric Vehicle with ADAS features.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the definition of the control and safety functions
  • Creating specifications and design documentations
  • Supporting the integration of the battery systems safety features
  • Managing multiple battery processing projects
  • Designing appropriate DVVP, Design and Test standards at all levels
  • Delivering robust control and safety designs through best practices such as DFMEA, DFA, DFM
  • Leading testing and validation activities
  • Meeting certification requirements of components and vehicles through testing activity
    Maintaining safety protocols for the battery systems
  • Driving continuous improvement
  • Communicating concepts and processes

The requirements

You will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in design and integration of control and communication networks in the vehicle industry, and design of electrical architecture for vehicles with safety critical functionality. Other requirements include:
  • BTech / MTech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • Hands on experience in design of control and communication networks and architecture
  • Experience in analysing data flows, bandwidth, and latencies
  • Working knowledge of in-vehicle communication systems (CAN, Ethernet, Lin, Flexray)
  • A thorough understanding of ISO 26262
  • Experience of integration of high voltage battery systems including BMS
  • Experience in systems integration testing
  • Experience in tools such as Mentor Graphics Capital Suite, CANalyser, CANOE, MATLAB
  • Analytical with strong attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Able to work both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
