Responsibilities:

The Cloud Platform Engineer works within the Cloud Operations team. The Cloud Platform Engineer will ensure, along with other team members that all hosted environments are available and that SLA's are being met within relevant timescales.

Individuals will be expected to work independently and as part of a team, taking ownership of tasks and issues, and seeing them through to completion.

The Cloud Platform Engineer will work as a mentor to junior members of the team providing technical guidance, helping them learn operational excellence and how to deliver complex solutions.

•Development of host configuration (using configuration manager such as Chef) for Cloud Ops customer base and internal Ops hosts.

• Working with our customers, suppliers, and internal partners you will be responsible for providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 Cloud Operations support.

• To act as a lead issue resolution analyst and take ownership of all assigned tickets carrying them through to resolution with minimal instruction

• To perform deep technical analysis of operational problems

• To develop and maintain internal and external relationships, and communicate directly with customers as required

• To work on the out of hours support rota.

• To act as a mentor to more junior members of the team

• To work alongside internal engineering teams to manage the lifecycle of issues to resolution

• Pro-actively develop and utilize our available monitoring tools to assist with monitoring uptime, detecting faults as well as creating metrics for availability, utilization, application performance, etc.

• Ensure technical solutions are robust, efficient and meet the technical and commercial requirements of the business.

• Identify, highlight, monitor and resolve platform related issues

• Be point of guidance for technical escalations, responsible for providing high quality solutions on complex issue

• To provide regular and accurate updates

• Report on technical progression of junior staff

• Keep support systems updated at all times with accurate case progress

• Develop knowledge management

• Develop and maintain test environments

• Drive positive support and engineering process changes

• Consolidate maintenance, upgrade and migration procedures

Experience Required:

• Either AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional

• 2 Years comprehensive hands on AWS experience

• DevOps methods and processes (incl. Config Management, virtualization, monitoring, code management)

• Building and maintaining close and productive customer relationships

• Maintaining virtualized, mixed OS environments on-premise, in private clouds and public clouds

• AWS, VMware or other hosting solutions

• Configuration managers (Chef, Puppet etc)

• Code managers (Git, Gerrit, Jenkins etc.)

• Oracle DB, MS SQL Server or MySQL

• Linux, Unix , Windows Server Edition

• Apache Tomcat, haproxy, IIS

• Application Servers (WebSphere, Weblogic, JBoss)

• Jreports, Solr or BI

• WebServices (SOAP/REST)

• Scripting languages (e.g. bash, Perl, Python, JavaScript)

• Enterprise Schedulers (e.g. Rundeck, Tidal)

• Either AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional

• 2 Years comprehensive hands on AWS experience
