Job Details

Founded just over three years ago and already valued at $300m, this insurance start-up have been named one of London's best companies to work for. Currently their team numbers 95 though they're expanding quickly, thanks to backing by investors who have also championed the likes of Monzo and Spotify. They're on a mission to make insurance more instant, affordable and inclusive by using machine learning, automation and comprehensive data integrations to offer quicker, simpler and fairer insurance to customers.

In 2021 they're expecting their customer base to triple and as a tech-centric organisation, their engineers are fundamental to their success. They've already created some pretty cool tools, including a fraud detection system, a bespoke Customer Account application and a unique bespoke risk engine, which accurately prices their customer base.

Presently, they're hiring across three of their engineering teams;

The Efficiency Team

These guys are all about making the customer's experience as instant, efficient, and enjoyable as possible. They look to enable their customers to self-serve their policy needs, from making policy changes, to managing renewals.

The Growth Team

Here you'd be responsible for making customer sign-up and renewal experiences as customer-friendly as possible. You'd also be maintaining comparison site integrations as well as implementing changes to their pricing system. It's a cross-functional team, consisting of both backend and frontend engineers, as well as a content designer and product manager.

The Claims Team

This team ensures the claims process is as smooth as possible. This would entail working with delivery partners to build reliable and accurate integrations. Long term, they'd be looking for you to think on a wider scale and fully redesign what the experience should look like.

You'd be working primarily on the backend with Java 15 μServices, Java 8+, as well as Spring Boot with Spring Cloud and Dynamo DB. They use Docker and Terraform for their DevOps services as well as AWS Fargate. Although the role is primarily a backend position a familiarity with React would be a bonus.

Having surveyed their employees they're going to have options to work in the office or on a fully remote basis (Must be UK based). They've got five roles live across two different levels, one offering up to £67K and the other up to £78K (though there can be flex here). They offer stock to every candidate as well as 25 days holiday (plus bank hols), health insurance, at least 2 days a year self-development and regular hackathons.
