Do you have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the designing of electrical architecture for electric vehicles with ADAS features? Our client is looking for an Electrical and Electronic Systems Engineer to join their team in North Yorkshire.

The company

Our client design, manufacture and sell advanced single and double deck buses within the automotive market. They have developed a range of low-carbon buses with optimised drive systems, setting the benchmark for fuel economy and CO2 reduction. Their lightweight engineering, premium service and low running costs all contribute to these advanced passenger vehicles designed for a global market.

The role

As Battery System Quality and Safety Engineer you will support the specification, selection, integration, and test of the high voltage battery system for an Electric Vehicle. Take full ownership for the systems safety plans & HARA, DFMEA and DVP to achieve robust safe and reliable performance and certification.

Responsibilities include:
  • Leading the definition of battery systems safety plan and functional safety assessment
  • Creating HARA and specification documentations for EV safety systems
  • Leading the battery system DFMEA to ensure all safety, failure and quality items are mitigated
  • Ensuring the PFMEA supports the quality standards needed
  • Managing the battery systems and BMS suppliers to deliver safety and quality targets
  • Supporting the development of the Quality manuals as per TS16949
  • Maintaining the safety protocols and safety manuals for product handling
  • Supporting issue resolution of systems and technical problems
  • Leading testing activity to meet certification requirements
  • Deliver projects on time and within cost constraints
  • Delivering best practise methods through best practices such as DFMEA, DVP and FuSa

The requirements

You will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in integration of electrical and control systems in the vehicle industry, and design of electrical architecture for electric vehicles with ADAS features.
  • BTech / MTech in Mechanical Engineering
  • Hands on experience in design of electrical and control systems
  • Knowledge and experience of ISO26262
  • Hands on experience in system integration testing
  • Knowledge and experience of validation plans for HV automotive and battery systems
  • Working knowledge of in-vehicle communication systems (CAN, Ethernet, Lin, Flexray)
  • Understanding of On-board - Off-board Diagnostics
  • Track record of designing, setting up and testing using MIL, SIL, HIL, and test benches
  • Ability to determine root cause of design failures
  • Experience of prototype vehicle build up, system commissioning and managing issue resolution
  • Strong track record of system integration and delivery - automotive domain is preferred
  • Analytical with strong attention to detail
  • Able to work both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
