Senior Specialist - Carbon Reduction Programme
Full Time - 35 hours per week (part time will be considered)
Fixed Term Contract for 2 years (with potential for extension)
Salary: up to £30,000
Our client is looking for a dynamic, experienced and knowledgeable self-starter to lead their Carbon Reduction Programme.
As part of their Wilder 2030 strategy, they made a pledge to become a "climate positive" organisation by 2030. By this they mean doing better than net zero GHG emissions and sequestering more carbon than they emit - through implementing nature-based solutions such as rewilding, habitat creation and ecological restoration alongside reducing the carbon footprint of their day-to-day operations to as low as possible.
As the lead on carbon reduction, this role will be responsible for establishing their baseline carbon footprint, developing their carbon reduction strategy, and implementing action across the organisation so that they reach net zero as soon as possible.
Alongside this, and as part of the newly created Nature-Based Solutions team, the postholder will work to develop the Trust as a credible player in the climate action space and in delivering nature-based solutions including carbon sequestration, nitrates mitigation, natural flood management, and biodiversity net gain through habitat creation and rewilding.
These solutions will also lead to the provision of NBS services for paying clients looking to address their climate and environmental impact, unlocking new sources of finance for conservation delivery as well making a major contribution to the strategic goals of 30% of land and sea in recovery for nature and making a meaningful local contribution to tackling the climate emergency.
The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of carbon emissions, carbon impact measurement, carbon reduction strategies and the role of natural habitats in sequestering carbon, together with the expertise and experience to implement action across a complex organisation and beyond.
