Network Lead - Basingstoke

A network lead with extensive client facing experience, plan and execute in depth technical activity, influencing the direction of activities/plans and providing technical insight and guidance to others, post COVID role will be based in Basingstoke. Role will be part of our Infrastructure services practice. Cognizant Infrastructure Services - Provides IT infrastructure & Cloud services for clients across industry verticals, including both Consulting/Professional and Managed Services, across Enterprise Computing, Cloud services, DevOps, Data Centers, End User Computing, Service Desk, Network Services and Environment Management Services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute in depth technical activity, influencing the direction of activities/plans and providing technical insight and guidance to others
  • Investigate and help resolve issues on customer's network and IT estates using agreed troubleshooting methodologies
  • Configure and troubleshoot network switches and routers
  • Upgrade software on routers, switches, Loadbalancers
  • Supporting and taking ownership of ad-hoc projects
  • Supporting wider team with knowledge share, via knowledge base communications (emails, how-to guides etc.) and contribution at team meetings
  • Working with ISP and multiple 3rd party vendors
  • Working with Cisco TAC/3rd Party engineering teams

Essential Skills:
  • Good understanding on Nexus/Fex technology (For DataCentres)
  • Layer 2 technologies (VLAN, CDP,LLDP, trunking, Etherchannel, Spanning-Tree)
  • Layer 3 technologies (IPv4/IPv6 addressing and subnetting, multicast, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, Static Routing, VRF, IP-SLA etc)
  • VPN technologies (MPLS, IPVPN, IPsec, GRE)
  • Good understanding of Cloud connectivity solutions (Azure Express Route and AWS Direct Connect)
  • Good understanding of QoS configuration & troubleshooting
  • Authentication methods and management, TACACS+/Radius and understanding of complex policies
  • Cisco Wireless, traditional (WCS) and Meraki Cloud based solutions
  • Good understanding of managing Cisco ISE/Cisco ACS
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of DNS record creation and management
  • Extensive knowledge of DHCP management and advanced option configuration
  • Extensive experience with F5, Stingray, Brocade and Pulse Secure. Understanding IPVIP, Architecture Concepts and pool management
  • IP Transparency and Pulse Secure Virtual Traffic Manager
  • SD-WAN Concepts
  • Microsoft Azure Networking and general knowledge of Azure compute
  • Other Cloud Computing Concepts (Google Compute/AWS)

Nice to Have Skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience of Solwarwinds (NPM/NetPath/NCM/NetFlow)
  • Understanding of other Monitoring Tools (WnMTR/MultiPing/Nmap/Wireshark)
  • Understanding of ITIL Processes
