BlairWest are supporting a leading international Maritime Insurance company who have an opening for a Software Developer to join their head office in Newcastle upon Tyne city centre.

With regional offices across Hong Kong, Japan, Shanghai, Singapore and Greece, they provide marine mutual liability insurance to protect and promote the interests of the international shipping industry.

Working alongside an integral Development team, you will support and enhance a range of applications within the business' core software landscape to ensure operational systems run smoothly.

The Role:
  • Ensure ongoing operation and development of back-office software systems through familiarisation of Computer Information Systems (CIS)
  • Contribute to the eventual incorporation of software systems into a shared IT Business Solution
  • Produce appropriate system documentation and status reports
  • Carry out ongoing systems maintenance and support activities
  • Take the initiative in planning and completing software design and development
  • Handle escalations
  • Review and appraisal of historic software developments
  • Liaise with business stakeholders and third parties

The Individual:
  • Excellent knowledge of procedural programming concepts
  • Linux operating system scripting
  • Experience with Microsoft .NET Framework, .NET Core, and ASP.NET
  • Experience in C# development
  • Strong awareness of current software trends
  • Azure DevOps and Git Source Control Principles
  • Experience with Visual Studios (2010 / 2015 / 2017 / 2019)
  • Experience of working with SQL Servers or similar databases (T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS)
  • Ability to produce technical documentation and follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
  • Passion for ongoing continuous professional development and learning new programming languages
