Following our recent change in ownership, there is an exciting opportunity to join the Statutory Reporting team within Controllership, where you will be able to create and implement brand new processes and reporting to shape how the business adapts to the challenges and requirements of new ownership. You will play a vital role in creating and delivering key reporting to ASDA's stakeholders both internally and externally. This role allows significant opportunities to develop both technical and soft skills in a supportive environment, where well-being and development are prioritised. Your Role
As an accountant within the Corporate Accounts team, you will combine your technical knowledge with communication and prioritisation skills to ensure that we maintain a strong control environment and help the business to meet its objectives.
You will be responsible for executing and improving our key statutory reporting processes (e.g. annual accounts preparation and approval, liaising with other key stakeholders such as Tax, FP&A and External Audit)
Take responsibility for key control processes in the Statutory Reporting team's remit (e.g. month-end reconciliation preparation and review activities; reconciling external and intercompany debt balances and transactions; accounting for FX-denominated transactions including foreign currency hedges; cash repatriation planning, approval and execution)
Performing financial controls oversight of ASDA's charitable activities, including ASDA Foundation
Project responsibilities relating to the evolution of the group structure, associated statutory reporting and group reporting processes following Asda's proposed transition to new ownership
Execution of various month-end group reporting processes for a variety of audiences
Participate in cross-functional projects which improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our statutory reporting processes and corporate structureAbout You
- You will be a qualified accountant either ACA, ACCA or CIMA
- You will have a strong academic background be confident liaising with people at all levels, and have great analytical, communication and judgement skills
- You must be proficient in the use of Excel; experience in use of digital analytics tools is desirable
