An opportunity for a Lawyer to join a Non Departmental Public Body in the capacity of Legal Adviser. This body are an independent regulator of higher education.
Your new role
As a Legal Adviser, you will lead on the provision of legal advice and support for a broad range of legal matters relevant to the functions of the organisation and its internal corporate activities. You will managing the conduct of litigation activities, such as judicial review proceedings, statutory appeals and regulatory investigations. You will provide legal advice and support on legal topics relevant to decision making and supporting processes, such as public law principles, statutory duties and considerations, the delegation of functions and equalities legislation; Human rights law; Charity law and the law relating to defamation. Finally, you will lead on the production of internal guidance documents on key legal and regulatory issues to a high standard.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you will be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister (or similar qualification from a jurisdiction recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority) with post qualification experience, ideally of higher education law, public law (eg experience of advising on judicial reviews), working in other regulators or government departments and other relevant litigation experience, including familiarity with the civil procedure rules. Furthermore, you will have experience of dealing with many legal practice areas; ability to analyse and advise on complex legal issues; an ability to adopt a creative and innovative approach to legal issues and an ability to influence and negotiate.
