This is a Fixed Term role - 29 April 2022 to cover Maternity Leave

WHAT WE DO

The Student Life team is responsible for the personal development, behaviour and attitude of all our Further Education students, which was judged Outstanding by Ofsted. We directly deliver services to students - safeguarding, welfare and mental health and wellbeing are at the centre of what we do.

The safeguarding team sits within the wider student life team and we work closely with curriculum departments to ensure arrangements are in place to effectively safeguard students.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Quality assurance and audit of the recording of safeguarding concerns providing individual coaching to improve and develop record keeping
Plan and coordinate cross college safeguarding support, ensuring students have access to internal and external services
Provide casework support for crisis and acute safeguarding referrals
Line management stay safe service staff including performance management appraisals and sickness monitoring
Provide both ad-hoc and formal supervision to stay safe officers

YOUR PROFILE

The successful candidate, alongside a passion for improving the lives of our students, will have experience of managing positive and successful teams including direct line management, along with significant experience in safeguarding.

Level 2 Safeguarding Qualification A recognised qualification in at least one area of expertise in safeguarding, social work, mental health, health and care to a minimum of NVQ 3 or equivalent, or substantial experience
Recent experience working as a designated safeguarding officer and caseload management
Experience of managing staff and providing caseload supervision Up to date knowledge and experience of a range of safeguarding issues
Excellent interpersonal and team work skills
