Job Details

Do you like being empowered? And empowering others?

Do you have experience of successfully leading a team?

Are you passionate and creative? Are you flexible, adaptable and willing to learn?

We're excited to be able to offer you an opportunity to join our team.

We're looking for someone who loves working with people and has the ability to lead, inspire and empower those around them. Our successful candidate will be someone who is friendly and positive in their approach and attitude, with the energy to instill this in others. They will be able to work collaboratively with peers and colleagues, actively engaging with others and building strong working relationships. We also require someone with a business mind with the ability to make confident commercial decisions.

As a Shop Manager, we can offer you a challenging but enjoyable and hugely rewarding role with Save the Children. We will provide you with the right support and coaching you need in order to successfully manage and lead a team of volunteers in running one of our Mary's Living & Giving shops.

Our Highgate shop is located in the heart of Highgate with really attractive surroundings with a busy coffee shop and local independent shop vibe. There are also a number of other busy charity shops on the same street. With a great shop floor layout and brilliant downstairs sorting room space which has also previously been used for creative pop-up projects, this is a shop which is brimming with potential. Having been closed since March 2020 this is a shop that will require re-engagement with the community and developing its small volunteer team.

We are looking for a friendly, positive character who values kindness and generosity of spirit. The ideal candidate would have experience in managing and inspiring a team as well as experience in retail.

As stated the current volunteer team is small so there is great opportunity here to grow and empower this current team and in doing so grow and develop income for Save the Children.

The Highgate Shop receives many beautiful and high value donations and that is what draws many of our regular customers. But in addition to this Highgate is also a popular tourist area and in line with our philosophy and ethos we are looking for someone who is able to maximise on these donations but also create a space that is inclusive and welcoming to everyone.

Running a charity shop is hard work but the rewards that come with building your shop community, being part of the wider Save the Children Team and a role that makes a difference to Children's lives is extremely fulfilling. Looking forward to hearing from you.

The Mary's Living & Giving philosophy is about bringing the local community to life, creating a welcoming environment for people to come together with energy, kindness and love. See attached.

Does this excite you? Is this something you can believe in?

If so, we'd love to hear from you.
