Varrier Jones Foundation manages £50m of assets for the benefit of Papworth Trust and other disability charities. We are seeking an additional trustee to strengthen our overall supervision of the professionals who manage our market investments.
VJF's assets are divided between property (commercial and developable land) and market investments currently valued at over £35m. Since the beginning of 2017 the portfolio of market investments has been managed day-to-day by Sarasin and Partners and supervised on behalf of the VJF Board by an Investment Committee. The Trustee (Investment Management) will join both the Board of VJF and the Investment Committee and in that Committee will bring their expertise and experience to bear on the work of supervising our professional investment managers.
We have also agreed that the appointment of these professional managers will be reviewed in 2022 when they will have been post for five years and the Committee will take the lead role in establishing and carrying out this review and making recommendations to the Board as a whole.

This is an opportunity for an experienced investment manager or investor to apply their skills and experience at Board-level in a challenging charitable setting and to help ensure that VJF's considerable assets can continue to yield sustainable long-term returns for the benefit of disabled people.
- Mostly during office hours.
- Estimate of time needed: 0-5 hours / month.
- The Board meets quarterly. The Investment Committee meets two to three times a year.
