Your RoleWe are seeking a talented and passionate PHP/LAMP developer to join a growing team to help build a cutting-edge planning, reporting, analytics and business process tool on the Laravel framework.

The role encompasses development, maintenance, version control, documentation and support of Appsumer's proprietary platform. The role will involve working within the Infrastructure pod and include a degree of working with the wider company, explaining processes, performing technical discoveries and working with the Product Manager in order to add items to the product backlog.

The ideal candidate should have a passion for technology, be analytical in their thinking, possess excellent development skills, have experience in big data application, how to maintain such infrastructure, be able to scale applications and have the aptitude to work on their own with minimal supervision.

Possessing considerable experience with Linux, MySQL, PHP7, Laravel and/or Symfony, Bash scripting and experience with AWS would be beneficial. You will work with the team to ensure high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end.

We are looking for a number of strong and talented full-stack engineers to join either our London or new Málaga team as permanent members. Reporting directly to a London-based team working in an agile environment, the positions are back-end based with some front-end work, knowledge of front-end frameworks would be ideal.

Your Responsibilities
  • Work directly with the CTO, VP of Product to understand product requirements for the forthcoming sprint
  • Work with the CTO, Lead Platform Engineer and the wider development team in finding the best solutions
  • Understand the requirements, agree on the technical approach and take responsibility in translating these into prototypes and production ready code
  • Taking an active role in all phases of the development lifecycle - what you think matters!
  • Develop best in class product using latest frameworks and libraries
  • Building reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability
  • Implementation of security and data protection
  • Build a scalable infrastructure to meet the growing demands on the Platform
  • Design and implementation of data storage solutions
  • Perform QA and code review
  • Share knowledge, mentor and educate


RequirementsWhat you'll need to succeed
  • 3 years+ LAMP development in web-based software, ideally API driven, microservices architecture (RESTful APIs) using PHP, PHPUnit and MVC frameworks (Laravel and/or Symfony)
  • Working with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL based database architecture, the candidate should have strong experience in writing SQL and have a proven database design background and administration
  • Data migration, transformation, and scripting
  • Experience with the AWS ecosystem with knowledge of integrating AWS components (e.g. EC2, S3, RDS)
  • Proven ability to scaling an application
  • Git workflow including pull requests and code reviews
  • Analytical thinking - the candidate must be able to understand a problem and be able to provide a solution
  • Design patterns, SOLID principles, OOP design, documentation and any code quality practices are encouraged
  • Working with virtual environments such as Docker/Vagrant would be advantageous
  • HTML5 and JQuery - the ideal candidate should have good front-end development experience
  • Python - a nice to have
