Lead Java Developer

ShortList are looking for a Lead Java Developer to join an excellent company based in Wrexham, who will oversee development architecture and software design across the business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading software architectural decision-making, providing blueprints and technical leadership across the product suite.

The Lead Java Developer will get the chance to scope, plan, specify, test and deliver new and existing software features and releases, and will adhere to the best practices within the development team.

Extensive knowledge and experience in object orientated programming techniques and a strong background in Java development and design are required, as well as good skills with web based programming technologies, e.g. HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, XML. Knowledge of database principles and SQL would also be beneficial.

Essential skills:
  • Strong knowledge across relevant programming languages e.g. HTML, JavaScript, CSS3, jQuery, XML
  • Strong background in Java development and design
  • Excellent knowledge of software design and architecture
  • Agile environment
  • SQL / MS SQL Server
  • Understanding of Spring and/or Maven
  • Jenkins (desirable)
  • Jira (desirable)
  • Degree educated - Computing, Computer Science or related subject


The Lead Java Developer will command a salary of up to £50,000 (DOE) plus a strong benefits package, and the flexibility to work from home up to 2 days a week once Covid-19 restrictions ease. The role will initially be fully remote under current Government guidelines.

The position is commutable from Birkenhead, Chester, Deeside, Liverpool, Oswestry, Shrewsbury, Telford, Warrington and the Wirral. To apply, click here!
