Job Details

A distressed debt fund with north of $1bn in AUM is looking to hire an experienced Fund Controller who has a can-do attitude. This person will work alongside a talented group of people on a range of complex investment portfolios. While they are looking for someone who will eventually gravitate into a CFO or Finance Director position, this person will be expected to get involved in a mixture of both hands-on work and investment management.

Their ideal candidate will be a dynamic, self-motivated and a qualified accountant with 5 to 10 years post qualified experience. Buy side experience across illiquid assets is seen as a big plus.

Principal responsibilities will include:

  • Agree and manage month and quarter end portfolio valuations alongside the external Fund Administrators
  • Produce daily P&L figures and other ad-hoc daily reports
  • Manage FX hedging
  • Carry out waterfall calculations
  • Regular tax and audit related duties
  • Manage fund expenses and relevant allocations
  • Get involved on the corporate accounting side where necessary
  • Cash flow projection calculations
  • Assist with compliance and regulatory reporting requirements


The type of person:

  • Must be a fully qualified accountant - ACA | CIMA | ACCA
  • Have a solid academic background
  • Some accounting and operations experience of debt instruments, bank debt, loans etc. Perhaps prior experience in product control could be considered.
  • Cayman, Ireland Luxembourg accounting knowledge
  • Private equity knowledge is also advantageous
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently
  • Attention to detail, thoroughness, focus, determination, willingness to work hard.
