Microsoft's 2019 UK Country Partner of the Year is hiring again!What's the role?The Platform Services Engineer is a specialist engineering role providing deep technical skills in Cloud Automation and Application Deployment using Microsoft Azure and associated technologies.

The key focus is on developing internal tools and best practices, as well as ensuring customers benefit from best practice deployment methodologies for their applications and infrastructure.

Expert and in-depth knowledge of cloud services is critical, and the ideal candidate will have had extensive experience of developing the artefacts required to deploy large-scale infrastructure projects or development of internal tool-chains and artifacts that are consumed by development teams. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Microsoft Azure, but candidates with strong experience in other cloud platforms may be considered.

Experience of working either within or alongside a development team, as well as Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment processes and the associated patterns and practices is essential for this role.

What You'll Be DoingThe Platform Services Engineer will be focused on developing tools and repeatable practices within the Microsoft cloud technology stack, you will also perform work including development, testing, and ongoing operation and support of CI/CD capabilities for multiple projects.

Key Duties
  • Use scripts, templates and other automation tools for the creation of Azure IaaS and PaaS services.
  • Authors code in .NET Languages
  • Develops internal toolchain/s and best practices.
  • Administers customer release management automation
  • Advises on best-practices regarding continuous integration & development


Essential Skills
  • Cloud native background/exposure
  • Cloud platform experience, preferably in Azure.
  • Experience in one or more scripting languages, preferably PowerShell.
  • Experience in one or more general-purpose languages, preferably C#.
  • Exposure to automation toolchains, preferably VSTS/Azure DevOps.
  • Exposure to configuration management toolsets, preferably DSC.
  • Exposure to IaC technologies, preferably ARM.
  • Exposure to Agile working practices (SCRUM).
  • Desire to evaluate and learn new technologies to design repeatable solutions to complex problems effectively


Desired Skills
  • Proficiency with Terraform and ARM
  • Experience with large-scale Office 365 automation
  • Experience with or exposure to C# Web Application Development (ASP.NET/MVC/Blazor)
  • Exposure to container technologies, preferably AKS
  • Microsoft Certified Developer Associate / Microsoft Certified Administrator Associate / Microsoft Certified DevOps Expert
