Founded in May 2015, Papier is a fast-growing, London based start-up, which has raised ~£18.5 million since launch and is changing the face of online personalisation. Papier offers a sophisticated user experience and delivers beautifully designed products, on-demand and all over the world, from personalised greeting cards to wedding invitations and stationery.

Papier is looking to hire a Head of Merchandising to join its Commercial team, who will be responsible for ensuring we maximise category performance through strategic range and stock planning. This role will require the Head of Merchandising to define our merchandising strategy and demonstrate a willingness to set up and run relevant processes.

ResponsibilitiesPlanning and Forecasting
  • Plan sales budgets and stock order volumes by product category
  • Define product category range structures, including option counts and range depth
  • Set pricing across all our product categories
  • Optimise profitability of our categories through gross margin target planning
  • Work with trading to ensure that stock forecasts, budgets and gross margin targets align with the trading plan

Trading
  • Set up a sales and stock intake plan, monitoring and controlling stock levels on a weekly basis
  • Work with Buying, Operations and Trading to ensure there is a critical path for stock delivery and replenishment in line with trading plans
  • Provide weekly updates to wider trading group on key performance indicators, including sales and stock levels vs. budget
  • Monitor on-going category performance to help inform future range planning
  • Review in season stock opportunities and stock out risks to ensure we maximise category profitability


Requirements
  • Track record of running a merchandising function, in particular managing own brand stock in an e-commerce environment
  • Track record of building a Weekly Sales and Stock Intake plan, with the confidence to develop this process from scratch
  • Strong analytical skill set, with an eye for design and emerging trends
  • Ability to confidently and clearly communication updates to a wide audience a regular basis
  • Ability to adapt quickly, to respond to stock opportunities and risks
  • Strong collaborator, with experience working alongside Buying, Design, Trading, Operations and Finance teams
