We are a new global video games company headquartered in central London, and are now looking for a VP of Publishing and Marketing as an important addition to our core leadership team.

The company was founded by veterans who currently operate a leading investment fund in the video games industry and with deep prior experience at some of the leading platforms and publishers. The company is focused on investment and publishing of PC and console games. It is well funded and has closed a significant investment round to build its presence in North America, Europe, and Asia.

The VP of Publishing and Marketing will build the publishing function of the company and will lead the marketing and PR efforts both at the corporate level and for the games in development. The base compensation for this role is competitive, with an attractive bonus scheme and stock option plan. This is a significant role both at the strategic level and the execution level, and the company is looking for an ambitious individual to join this journey.

Roles and responsibilities

At the corporate level, the VP of Publishing and Marketing's responsibilities include:
  • Develop the company's global marketing vision and strategy, and execute a plan with clear goals
  • Lead the efforts in corporate branding, both within the industry as well as with gamers and media
  • Prepare periodic investor reports regarding company's publishing initiatives, goals, and results
  • Support the due diligence of studios and games which the company is considering to invest in and/or publish
  • Build the publishing team, and set up publishing processes and structure to ensure success
  • Ensure collaborative coordination between the publishing team with other internal commercial and game development teams

At the games level, working with the game development studios/teams, the VP of Publishing and Marketing's responsibilities include:
  • Build cohesive marketing and communications plans for multi-region and multi-platform releases
  • Analyze market research data to define product positioning as well as monitor competitive activity and identify consumer need
  • Plan PR events and initiatives such as press trips and events; plan and manage events and PR agencies when required
  • Develop and supervise PR campaigns including embargos, exclusives, cover deals, and other promotional opportunities
  • Ensure the community, influencer, and PR projects generate demand and drive revenue
  • Develop close relationships with First Party and hardware partners to maximize marketing impact
  • Leverage digital marketing tools and processes to provide clear insights into effectiveness of PR and marketing activities
  • Provide clear insights, reports, and projections of all publishing activities

  • At least 7 years of working experience in the video games industry
  • Senior management level publishing experience: well-versed in all aspects related to publishing, including marketing, PR, branding, community management, etc
  • Substantial experience of leading marketing, PR, and/or publishing teams in the games industry for PC/console and/or mobile games
  • Experience taking multiple video games to market and demonstrating success throughout the product lifecycle
  • Experience and understanding of marketing and product performance tracking tools
  • Excellent contacts in the industry, e.g. media, influencers, agencies, game conferences
  • Creative thinker who can combine marketing ideas with detailed game knowledge
  • Analytics-driven and solid business judgment
  • Well organized and ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills at all levels
  • A degree level qualification, preferably in Business, PR, or Marketing
  • The job is based in London, UK
